Biography

Harold E. Greer Jr. taught at Livingston University and LSU in New Orleans before beginning his teaching at VCU in 1968. He taught at VCU until his retirement in 2004. After retiring Dr. Greer taught and led trips to Latin America for the VCU Commonwealth Society for several years. While teaching at VCU Dr. Greer received outstanding teacher and outstanding advisor awards and received the Presidential Medallion. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Phi Alpha Theta history honor society. He received the Alger Sydney Sullivan Award and is a Danforth Fellow.
 
Dr. Greer and his wife Laura established a scholarship in the History Department and endowed a professorship in Latin American History.
