Join the HRC’s Migration Studies Lab for a transformative day of dialogue, research, and discovery at the Latinx Scholarship Symposium, a groundbreaking gathering of scholars in Latino/a studies and migration studies from across Virginia and North Carolina. As Latinx communities face unprecedented challenges, this symposium aims to unite students, faculty, and scholars, amplify Latino/a voices, and advance scholarship and public humanities projects that drive social change.

This symposium will feature panels, dynamic keynote speakers, and workshops that explore the intersections of identity, migration, history, and justice. Speakers will include Cecilia Márquez, Duke University, author of "Making the Latino South: A History of Racial Formation" (UNC Press, 2023), Tanya Gonzalez, Executive Director at Sacred Heart Center, and Deborah Kang, University of Virginia, author of "The INS on the Line: Making Immigration Law on the US-Mexico Border, 1917-1954" (Oxford University Press, 2017).

This event is free and open to all. Breakfast and lunch is provided to those who RSVP. Please RSVP no later than March 20th, 2025.
