Safety, Health, and Wellness

The following organizations and offices offer support of the safety, health, and wellness of VCU students.

Safety:

  1. VCU Police are the first responders for campus safety issues.  They may be reached by phone at (804)828-1234.
  2. The Greater Richmond Regional Hotline offers support and assistance in matters of sexual abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence.

Health:

  1. Dial 911 in the event of any health emergency.
  2. Student Health Services provides outpatient care and is available to all full-time VCU students, and is supported via student fees. They provide basic health services by appointment.
  3. Health Brigade is a local health care clinic which offers free services to those who qualify financially. They also offer free STI testing to any patient by appointment.
  4. Planned Parenthood is a low-cost women’s health care provider.
  5. The Greater Richmond Regional Hotline offers support and assistance in matters of sexual abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence.

Mental Health:

  1. Dial 911 in the event of any mental health emergency.
  2. Student Counseling Services are available to all VCU students.
  3. Richmond Behavioral Health Authority Crisis Services is a good local resource for all mental health issues, including drug and alcohol issues.
  4. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline hotline number is 1-800-273-8255.
  5. The Greater Richmond Regional Hotline offers support and assistance in matters of sexual abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence.

Wellness:

  1. VCU’s The Well offers a wide variety of wellness support, including drug and alcohol recovery programming and healthy lifestyle programs.
  2. VCU RecSports offers a wide variety of classes, programs, and memberships to keep students active.
