John W. Lemza is the author of American Military Communities in West Germany: Life in the Cold War Badlands, 1945-1990 (April 2016, McFarland Publishers). His current research project is a cross-departmental collaborative effort that expands the traditional model of oral history through the use of kinetic software technology to capture the stories of military veterans through the creation of avatars. He holds degrees from the United States military Academy at West Point (BS, 1976), Virginia Commonwealth University (MA, 2005) and George Mason University (PhD, 2014).
